Gateway M-152XL

-May 31, 2008-
Gateway M-152XL is very close to Gateway M-150X, not only from its name but also from its specification and how it looks. The new M-152XL runs on Penryn technology and uses better graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600XT) than the older M-150X. However, the design is not amazing. Nowadays newer laptops usually have innovative and beautiful casing design but M-152XL apparently is a believer in 'old school'.
I consider this notebook as a desktop replacement because it weighes more than 6 lbs. With 15.4" screen size, it seems that Gateway M-152XL can fulfill all the homeboys' needs. Sadly, the 15.4" screen size doesn't come up with the standard resolution. 1,280x800 is below standard, and Gateway is still using it instead of trying to put the newer 1,440x900 screens.
Well, but don't worry. The keyboard feels comfortable so it's a big plus. Although the mouse buttons are not good enough (hard-pressed) but as a whole, this laptop provides comfortability. To give better experience, even Gateway puts slot-loading DVD burner, HDMI port, and 5-in-1 card reader. About mobility, this laptop is not for travelers unless you ready to pay extra $200 for the extra battery life. The standard batteries in Gateway M-152XL won't be able to survive for more than 3 hours according to the test, . Quite disappointing? Not really because its price is not expensive and the specification looks good.
