Gateway P-170L QS

-January 28, 2008-
Gateway P-170L QS should be considered as a PC replacement in your home. First, it's not a mobile laptop (due to its weight and size). Second, it is not a gaming laptop as well (at least, I think so) because the performance is not strong enough for heavy games. But Gateway P-170L QS is good enough for desktop replacement. This Gateway notebook apparently is one of the lightests among all 17" laptops.
Have you seen it? If yes, I think you've understand why Gateway produced this laptop. Before December 2007, Gateway gave a code name for P-170L QS, Godzilla. It's understandable why Gateway believes they could win the race against its competitors. With most laptop manufacturers focus on creating thin laptops, the competition in desktop-replacement laptops are not as tight as last year.
Gateway announced that the 17" widescreen monitor is readable enough and very beautiful. I agree with that statement. You can run many programs at one time and you can see all the fonts clearly. Beside the amazing monitor, Gateway P-170L QS includes HDMI and 802.11N Wi-Fi ports. Nevertheless, this laptop only features three USB ports, none FireWire port (it is replaced by eSATA), and the speakers doesn't look amazing (different with usual Gateway laptops). It is a good laptop? Yes, but I think there are plenty of better offers out there.
