Lenovo IdeaPad U110

-May 24, 2008-
Lenovo IdeaPad U110 reminds me to the most popular ultraportable laptop, Apple MacBook Air. With thickness only 0.8", IdeaPad U110 could be the next one that travelers and busy people are looking for. The dimension size (7.7x10.8x0.8") is better than ThinkPad X300 despite its size screen (which is only 11.1") does help a lot. if Lenovo gave 13 inches laptop for this product, the dimensions definitely would become larger and it'll be a big issue for potential customers.
Well, let's talk about its weight. Lenovo IdeaPad U110 weighes around 2.9 lbs, lighter than MacBook Air. However, it comes with two kinds of battery (18-Wh and 57-Wh). The usage of these batteries might change the U110's total weight. If you only use the 57-Wh battery, your IdeaPad U110 might become as heavy as MacBook Air (~3 lbs). If you only use the 18-Wh battery, the total weight of your IdeaPad U110 would be around 2.4 lbs. But of course to maximize the battery life, you need both of these batteries.
As usual, Lenovo is the leading manufacturer if we talk about its laptop keyboard. IdeaPad U110 has a very enjoyable keyboard despite it's not a full size keyboard. The mouse buttons and touchpad are excellent as well. About ports, IdeaPad U110 has 3 USB ports, 1 FireWire port, six-in-one card reader, VGA-out, and Ethernet. These things mean Lenovo IdeaPad U110 is one step further than its competitors such as Sony TZ150N and also MacBook Air. Too bad the monitor screen size is only 11", maybe it's good for you but for me it is just too small.
