Lenovo ThinkPad X300

-February 27, 2008-
The competition to create thin laptops have
already begun. Since Apple introduced the MacBook Air, Toshiba then produced Portege R500-11J and R500-11I. Now Lenovo creates its own ThinkPad X300. This laptop maybe is not as thin as MacBook Air but X300 has almost the same weight as MacBook Air. In general, I think ThinkPad X300 is a little bit better than MacBook Air but the price looks uncomfortable. Are you ready to buy a $3,000 laptop?
Let's talk about the other things. ThinkPad X300 looks ordinary, nothing special from its design. It's not thin either. However, Lenovo ThinkPad X300 has the built-in optical drive, WWAN, and 13.3" LED widescreen monitor with resolution up to 1,440x900. Nice, isn't it?
Beside of these things, ThinkPad X300 also offers us GPS chip, WiMax chip, and mapping software. These features are so cool but I don't know if you need them or not. If you need a laptop only for your present works, maybe you should find a cheaper laptop. Well, ThinkPad X300 is not that great though. It doesn't have a FireWire port and also a HDMI port.
